Beat Stops (“we”, “us”, “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to players in the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States, and everywhere else the app is available.
Beat Stops contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not sell or share your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Beat Stops collects the minimum data needed to run its features:
– A player identifier — used to associate your gameplay with your entry on the leaderboard so your scores can be ranked against other players.
– Gameplay data — such as scores, streaks, match wins, and Rhythm State information.
– Crash and diagnostic data — if the game crashes or hits an error, we collect a crash report containing your device model, operating system version, and a unique installation-specific identifier, so we can find and fix problems.
– Basic usage and device data — through Unity’s cloud services, the app may collect limited technical and usage information (such as device type, operating system, general region, and app interactions) to help keep the game stable and improve it. This may include a device identifier.
We do not ask for your name, email, or contact details to play. The only time we hold your email is if you choose to contact us directly (see Section 8).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
> Note: These features are provided through Unity’s cloud services (see Section 3), and the data is used only to operate, stabilise, and improve the game.
2. Why We Process This Data
We process this data to:
– Display and rank players on the leaderboard;
– Assign and track your Rhythm State;
– Diagnose crashes and technical problems and keep the game stable;
– Understand general usage so we can improve the game.
Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a functioning, competitive, and stable game experience. Where required, we rely on your consent, which you provide by choosing to participate in the leaderboard.
3. Third-Party Services
Beat Stops uses the following third-party software:
– Unity — provides the game engine and Unity’s own cloud services, which the app may use for:
– Leaderboards — to rank players;
– Crash reporting / diagnostics — to detect and fix crashes and technical issues;
– Analytics — to understand general usage and improve the game;
– Remote configuration — to adjust game settings (such as difficulty balancing) without requiring an app update.
To provide these, Unity may process a device identifier and gameplay, usage, and diagnostic data on our behalf. Unity’s handling of this data is governed by Unity’s own privacy policy: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
– FMOD (Firelight Technologies) — provides the game’s adaptive audio. FMOD operates as an on-device audio engine and, to our knowledge, does not collect personal data from players.
We do not use any third-party advertising networks or social media SDKs. All cloud services used are Unity’s own.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data is shared only with Unity, and only to the extent necessary to operate the leaderboard, crash reporting, analytics, and remote configuration services described above. We do not share data with any other third party except where required by law.
5. Data Storage, Retention, and International Transfers
Some data is stored on your device; leaderboard, usage, and crash/diagnostic data is transmitted to and stored on Unity’s servers to provide the services described above.
Retention: We retain leaderboard data for as long as needed to operate the leaderboard, or until you request its deletion. Crash, diagnostic, and usage data is retained for a limited period in line with Unity’s retention practices, after which it is deleted.
International transfers: Unity’s servers may be located outside the UK, EEA, or Japan. Where data is transferred internationally, it remains subject to the protections described in Unity’s privacy policy and applicable data-protection law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your data. We honour these rights for all players regardless of location.
UK / EU (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to restrict processing or request data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local supervisory authority.
Japan (APPI): You have the right to request disclosure, correction, or deletion of your retained personal data.
United States: Depending on your state, you may have the right to access or delete your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [your email]. You can also clear locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
7. Children’s Privacy
Beat Stops is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In the UK, the age at which a child can consent to data processing is 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [your email] and we will delete it.
